Talented biophysicists, who was at the root of creation of the
theory and approach permitted to study structure-function relationship
of biological molecules. He had very short, difficult but bright
life. He graduated from faculty of Physics of the Baku State University
and post-graduated from the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry
of Academy Sciences of USSR in Moscow Unusual diligence, bright
individuality, persistence in achievement of an formulated aims
had allowed him devote himself to study conformational aspects
of enzyme-substrate and enzyme-inhibitory interactions. So, his
Candidate Thesis was the first scientific work in which all stages
of the @-chemotrypsine enzyme fermentation catalysis by the method
of theoretical conformational analysis was observed. The author
published more than 30 scientific papers during to his short life,
Maksumov S.I. tried to improve both the method of theoretical
conformational analysis and calculation programs. He had acute
mind and thorough knowledges, created around him atmosphere of
friendship and mutual understanding, which stimulated work of
his colleagues. Outwardly restrained and silent, with unusual
humour Maksumov S.I. had a great interest in classic music and
the literature and always aimed to learn the essence of the investigated
processes.
Life of the Maksumov S.I. was broken tragically. He died very
young at the age of 33, in 1983. He rescued two drowning girls,
but had not any forces to come up… The memory of this bright and
creative personality lives in hearts of his friends, colleagues
and followers.
